Manual for American and Canadian who need a Visa to the People’s Republic of China

If you plan to apply for Visa to China, and you reside in Canada, United States, and any other part of Americas this is a must read as it is a step-by-step process to obtain the visa during Covid Pandemic.

The following is a personal manual written by Rita Wampler already working and living in China.

No, you cannot get a Chinese vaccine for Chinese in the US or Canada, you have to get it abroad. And yes, it provides you facilitation with Chinese authorities, I have not heard about family members or Z visa applicants who have been denied visa after presenting the application with Chinese visa.

In Ecuador, it is possible to get a Chinese vaccine against Covid-19. The following are the steps that must be taken to get vaccinated and legal requirements you need.

☑️First, consult with your doctor to see if you are eligible for the vaccine. You must be over the age of 18 and in good health. If you have any chronic diseases, such as diabetes or heart disease, you may not be eligible for the CanSino vaccine, otherwise chose Sinovac vaccine (2-shot).

☑️Second, Book a plane to Ecuador (Quito); Quito is the capital of Ecuador in the province of Pichincha. It is located at an altitude of 2,850 meters (9,350 feet) above sea level in the Northern Hemisphere. Don’t worry about visas since you won’t need one and flights are really cheap.

☑️Third, Book a Hotel in Quito, plenty to choose from, since the Chinese embassy is located in Iñaquito Neighborhood, the area surrounding the embassy has a lot of hotels and nice places to stay.

☑️Fourth, make an appointment with the Health Center in Ecuador. The vaccination center will be able to provide you with more information on the vaccine and how to get it. You will also be asked to bring your identification, proof of residence and insurance card. It may be necessary to pay a fee for the vaccine.

☑️Fifth, get the vaccine. The CanSino vaccine is given in one dose, while the Sinovac vaccine is given in two doses.

☑️Sixth, head over to the Public Notary to get an official copy of the vaccination certificate. The Notary Public is located three blocks away of the Chinese Embassy. Not done yet.

☑️Seventh, book an apppointment with Cancilleria, Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores Ecuador. Get your document apostilled, this may take a few days

☑️Eight, Get your apostilled document translated and notarized, go to Translators Ecuador they have an office in Quito and they can do it while you wait for your appointment at the embassy

☑️Ninth, Book an appointment with the Chinese Embassy and submit your application for the visa back home.

I’ve described the above steps the best I could, however let me tell you my personal story and advice; this will make your life easier, no hassle.

 

Stay in Quito.

 

Ecuador has beautiful places to visit all over the city, Teleferico, Middle of the World, Carolina Park, and Mercado Artesanal. Quito and its surrounding areas are safe; you will also find excellent and affordable hotels. Quito and its surrounding areas are safe; you will also find excellent and affordable hotels.

 

Problem: The biggest threat in Quito comes, as in any city in the world, from skilled pickpockets. Not all over the place. Use judgment when exploring.

Solution: always keep your wallet and phone in your pockets and hold bags close to you.

Vaccination Centers

 

The vaccination centers are open from 8:00 in the morning until 3:00 pm from Monday to Friday.

 

Reminder: Take your passport with you as it’s a requirement.

Problem: Not all vaccination centers have Chinese-made vaccines.

Solution: There are so many you can visit within one day.

 

People and Safety

 

Ecuador is a destination with incredible people and many things to do; you will enjoy your time there. I would have stayed longer, but I had to return to the US for my family.

 

Solution: If you plan to do tourism, give yourself some more days.

 

After your first shot

 

Once you have received your first injection, you will have to wait four weeks for the second one; I took Sinovac.

 

Problem: If you want to be quick, fly in, fly out. Take the one Shot, CanSino.

Solution: Take CanSino, a one-shot dose.

 

Complete your dose

 

After the deadline, I returned to the vaccination center to complete the dose. The exact process as the first time or maybe easier since I have already gone through the process, remember to insist on a second dose of the Chinese vaccine.

 

Next Steps

 

From this moment on, you need to manage all the procedures for the legalization of the document, but it’s something I do not recommend for obvious reasons.

 

Problem: It is tedious and requires knowing your way around, knowing the language and culture.

Solution: I recommend you contact a local agency to do everything for you. The cost of all procedures, including official translation, legalization of translation, vaccine legalization at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and also some notary procedures which have to be done, and presentation of documents at the Chinese consulate for legalization and sealing, is about $800 including DHL courier service to the US.

 

Since I did not know about this service at first, I had to submit my documents to Translators Ecuador, a Linguistics Service Agency, but they have a lot more related services.

 

In summary

 

I had done the first part on my own, and Translators Ecuador took care of the rest, their rates for a full service is about $1,000, but they’ll have you ready the same day. It’s better to let these professionals handle everything for you; It’ll save you time and money in the end, trust me. I’ve had at least 8 colleagues that have used their service.

 

Problem: I went through a lot of hassle and wouldn’t recommend doing the entire process on your own.
